Joule heating effect | Multiphysics applied in Integrated Circuits | cv47.org

#Jouleheatingeffect is the process in which the electric current passing through a conductor generates heat in the conductor. The heat generated during the flow of electric current raises the temperature of the conductor and consequently increases the electrical resistance of the conductor. This in turn affects the flow of electric current in the conductor and the generation and dissipation of heat as a result of flow of electricity.

This is an example of a #stronglycoupledproblem since the heat generated increases the temperature of the conductor and the increase in temperature affects the flow of electricity.

Applications -

electric iron, electric kettle, electric toaster, electric oven, room heaters, #PCB etc.

Now for clear understanding about it, we would like to discuss you about a small project based on joule heating effect that is "#Multiphysics applied in Integrated Circuits".

Project Description -

The objective of the project is to quantify the temperature variation (and, if applicable,

characterize the stress state) due to flow of electricity in an electrical conductor.

Physics Interfaces applied in this analysis -

  1. Electrostatic

  2. Solid mechanics

  3. Heat transfer in solids

Boundary conditions applied -
